Using STASH

STASH is the part of the Um Ui that allows you to choose which of the many possible fields you wish to output from the model. Once you have chosen an output field there are three things to consider:

• The time period to average over (Time Profile)
• The spatial domain (Domain)
• The output stream (Usage)

Time Profile

This allows you to specify what time periods you wish to average over. For instance you might want to produce 30 day means of the Surface Temperature.

Spatial Domain

This allows you to select the spatial domain you want. For example you may wish to output the field on pressure levels or model levels, or just a single level. Alternatively you may wish to perform some averaging - for example output zonal means rather than full fields.

Usage

This just defined which output stream the data will be written to. As far as I can see this is just to allow you to conveniently locate the data after the [1]? has run. I often define a stream for ocean data and another stream for atmosphere data.
